Idea:
In the art world, “ultra rare” means valuable. In pediatric medicine, it means forgotten. CASK gene disorders affect fewer than 350 children globally—
so rare, they receive almost no funding or research. To change that, we launched The Ultra Rare Collection, a bold initiative that transformed the devastating
rarity of this diagnosis into a rallying cry. Hosted on ultrararecollection.com and in a Chelsea gallery show, the campaign invited Emmy-winning
puppet designers, illustrators, and renowned artists to create original works inspired by the children and families affected.
Every piece was auctioned to raise critical funds—turning what makes this disease so isolating into something powerful and seen.
Results:
The Ultra Rare Collection raised over $61,000 in its inaugural year, with 100% of proceeds going directly to fund research for therapies and a cure for CASK gene disorders. The campaign featured contributions from Emmy-winning artists and acclaimed illustrators, generating national press coverage and widespread community support. Its success led to the return of the initiative in 2025, expanding both in scale and visibility, and reinforcing Project CASK’s mission through art, storytelling, and collective action.
